Baptism
Through the pouring on of water and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the Sacrament of Baptism (Christening) brings a child or adult into the life of God's family, the Church. It is the first step in living the Catholic-Christian faith.
In order for a child to be baptised at Our Lady's or St. Joseph's one or both parents must be a baptised Catholic and must normally live in the parish. The child must be under the age of 7 - different provision is made for children older than this.
If you would like your child baptised at Our Lady's or St Joseph's the first step is to fill in the information form and it is helpful to speak to one of the parish team when you come to church.
We have a preparation programme to help parents and godparents reflect in a positive way on this joyful journey they are setting out on with their child/children. The programme takes place on the second and third Thursdays of each month in the Fr. Kelly room adjacent to Our Lady's Church. We meet at 7.00pm and the meetings last just under the hour.
Once the programme has been completed it will be possible to arrange a date for the baptisms to take place.
If you are an adult interested in being baptised, you are invited to enrol in the formation programme known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
