Baptism
Through the profession of the Christian Faith, pouring on of water, anointing with oil, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the Sacrament of Baptism (Christening) brings a child or adult into the life of God's family, the Church. Baptism is the first step in living the Catholic-Christian faith. |
Baptism for Children
In order for a child to be baptised at Our Lady's, normally one or both parents/guardians must themselves be a baptised Catholic Christian, and normally must live in the parish or worship regularly at Our Lady's. The child must be no more than 6 years of age (i.e. before their 7th birthday); different provision is made for children older than this.
Application must be made by the child's parent(s) or legal guardian(s).
If you would like your child baptised at Our Lady's, the first step is to fill in the information form and it is helpful to speak to Father Tony or Deacon Peter.
Please print off the form and fill it in. Then return a paper copy (not by email) of the completed application form to the parish. This can be posted to the parish house or put through the letterbox, or handed in to Fr. Tony or Deacon Peter when you come to Mass.
Only once the form has been received can we begin to look at a convenient date for the baptism.
