On Sundays during the coronavirus pandemic, at about 10.30am (a few minutes after the live-streaming of the 9.30am Mass on our parish Facebook page) join our "virtual community" web chat on Zoom. Please supply your own beverage of choice!
Many of us are learning new skills in these unusual times, and perhaps Zoom is new to you, so here is a bit of explanation.
Zoom is a video conferencing service you can use to meet virtually with others through the internet.
Step 1
You will need a digital device that has both a functioning microphone and a camera. Nearly all modern smartphones, tablets, and laptop computers have these built in. On most desktop computers, you will need to purchase a microphone/webcam to plug in.
Step 2
It is helpful, but not always necessary, to download the Zoom application (software) on your device, and set up a user account. It's free, and you can use the same account across multiple devices if you have them.
If you are using a desktop or laptop computer, you probably won't need to download the app in advance; just click on this link for the 'Virtual Coffee' meet-up (anytime after Mass finishes live-streaming) and follow the instructions on your computer screen.
If you are using a tablet or smartphone, you will need to download and install the Zoom application in advance.
Step 3
By following the instructions above you should be able to successfully join the online "Virtual Coffee" using the web link or Meeting ID and passcode at the top of this page.
Your device will likely ask you several questions before you will be able to join the web chat. These are:
Please click Ok or Allow to all of these.
Step 4
Once in the "meeting" you can turn your video on or off, and mute or unmute your microphone as needed, using the buttons provided on screen. At times the "Zoom Host" (the person who set up the meeting) may choose to mute all the other people's microphones but they will explain when and why they are doing this.

There are various videos online giving short tutorials on how to join a Zoom meeting and the different things you can do during it:
We look forward to seeing you online!
