Monday Mindfulness
Monday Mindfulness
We are a small, welcoming, group who meet once a week to practise Mindfulness. We meet on a Monday evening from 7.00pm - 8.00pm in the peaceful surroundings of the Father Kelly Room at Our Lady’s Church, Acomb.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the practice of deliberately bringing our attention to the present moment with a gentle acceptance and curiosity. It is a basic human ability and does not require us to change our beliefs or who we are.
We can cultivate this innate quality with simple practices that are scientifically demonstrated to benefit us, our loved ones, friends and neighbours and the people we work with. This in turn helps to reduce our stress and improve the quality of our life and our relationships.
What does the hour involve?
The hour begins with some relaxing music and a short breathing meditation. This is then followed by some simple mindful exercises such as mindful movement, mindful eating or a body scan meditation. Once a month we listen to a talk on Mindfulness.
There is no pressure to talk, you can feel free to simply come and listen.
All are welcome.
