Pope Francis, repeating words of Pope Benedict, has said: “Being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction”.
Evangelisation is about sharing the gospel – not in any kind of forceful way – but simply sharing the good news of Jesus so that others have a chance to follow him. It is a fundamental part of being a Christian that we invite others to consider the Christian message.
The Parish Evangelisation Team (PET) is a small group which seeks to offer support and encouragement to the Parish as a whole in the task of evangelisation. Much of our focus is on prayer for mission and from time to time the PET organises specific initiatives, or shares in outreach projects with other churches.
If you are looking for an immediate chance to learn more abut the Christian faith in a Catholic context, speak to one of us about the RCIA group – a group for adults preparing for Christian initiation.
